Book 2: Final score

Now that we're in the last week of this month's selection, it's time to give it your final rating.  Here are your options:

***** = This was one of the best books I've ever read.
**** = It was a great book, I'd definitely recommend it.
*** = It was pretty good.
** = There were some parts that were OK, but overall not great.
* = Not great.  At all.
0 = Didn't quite get around to this one.

If none of these options fit, feel free to use your own scoring method.

I finished this book in the first few days of July, so at this point, I feel like I hardly remember it. Not that it's that unusual, I'm lucky if I remember anything about the book by the time I turn the last page.

I liked this book, thought it was a good story and had some unexpected turns. I felt like reading a story written through the voice of an autistic boy gave me some insight into what it might be like to be autistic. My only complaint would be that all the math in the book only made me more aware of my own math weakness... and really, I don't need that many reminders.

    Good pick, Sevda.

I liked it a lot - three and 3/4th stars (just can't commit to four).

I didn't mind the math, because I didn't even try to figure it out. Did anyone actually read the appendix??

My only complaint is that it seemed to wrap up too quickly, too pat. It seemed like the author didn't exactly know how he wanted to finish it, so he just let it chug out quickly with no lingering message.

I just finished it and have to say I really liked it..given that it was written in a very matter of fact, emotionless way, I thought it was very emotional. I couldn't help think how hard it would be to have an autistic child and also made me think about how good it is to be calm - in general.

I DIDN'T read the appendix - and skipped almost all the puzzles and equations but had empathy for Christopher when he's driven to take his A-levels "because I don't like it when i put things in my timetable and have to take them out again, because when i do that it makes me feel sick."

I forgot to rate it: ****

Also, I thought it was funny that Swindon is the office that closed in "The Office" and all those folks were made "redundant" - Brit speak for "let go".

**** - I have recommended it to several people already. I thought this book was great. Very different perspective. Towards the end some of the descriptions Christopher went into got a little old so I did start skimming a little. I also did not read the appendix, but, I have to say the Monty Hall problem fascinated me. That was the one with the game show and you had to choose a door and then either stay with your original choice or change.
I see that the author also writes children's books. Has anyone ever read any of those?
