Book 4: September 2006
This month's selection was chosen by Jill, otherwise known as Minnehaha Mama. Please join Jill and me in reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. This is a multi-generational epic (read: long, long, long) who's main character is a hermaphrodite. It won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, Jill's husband liked it, and it appeals to me because it's description reminds me of John Irving... whom I love.

For this month's wine pairing, please choose the finest Blush Chablis you can find. Somewhere between a red and a white, this is the hermaphrodite of wines. Of all the wine pairings we've featured, this is also the one most likely to appear in a box.

In probably the kindest twist of fate the universe has thrown my way all year....THIS IS THE SAME BOOK I'M READING FOR MY OTHER BOOK CLUB! HOLLLLER!

I get the month off - I read this book and it is fantastic. I read it all in about a day and a half. But I will have to get it out and refresh myself. Very good choice.

I need Carrie's speed reading eyes. I've been reading it now for three days and I'm only on page 94. I really like it so far and Eric tells me it only gets better.
