Recommended Reading: January 2007

We're kicking off a new year, things are less busy than over the holidays, and for those of us in the Midwest...entering into the long winter stretch.  It's time to pile on the blankets and pour through some good books.  Have you read anything good lately?  Any books that you'd pass right onto a good friend?  List it here.  We're all ready to read something, but only if it's REALLY GOOD (no pressure).

Please include the title, author's name, and a brief description of the book and why you enjoyed it.

I just finished reading "The Glass Castle" as recommended by Carrie, my mom, and Jill. I thought it was a well-written book but just so disturbing. I kept trying to find things that were redeeming about the parents - finding creative ways to fuel their childrens mind even in times when money was short. Although I think that they did do some things well - like giving the kids a star when there wasn't money for Christmas gifts - was a clever idea. But, if the parents had made different choices there certainly would have been money. Such crazy stories...
