The Photo

I *heart* Doris Day! I'm sure she's aghast at the state of her star these days. Tsk, tsk.

The Book Biography

Three books in the queue:
The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson
The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini
Wonder Boys, Michael Chabon

Three classics I just couldn't get into:
Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, James Joyce
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen

Three characters I wish lived next door:
Pippi Longstocking, because I think Trixie would have fun with her in a few years. Though I'm sure that my neighbor keeping a horse in the house would piss me off.
Vivi Abbott Walker (from The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood)
Aragorn (from Lord of the Rings)

Three books I reread:
The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger
Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery
Getting Things Done, David Allen

Three books I'd like to re-read:
Written on the Body, Jeanette Winterson (I remember loving this book when I first read it, but I gave it to my mom and she hated it. So, now I need a sanity check.)
The Bean Trees, Barbara Kingsolver
Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh

Three books I can't wait to share with Trixie:
Ramona Quimby, Age 8, Beverly Cleary
Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery
Anastasia Krupnik, Lois Lowry

Three books in-progress right now:
Daily Life in Ancient Rome, Jerome Carcopino
The Baby Book, Dr. William Sears
Getting Things Done, David Allen
(Do you SEE the lack of fiction going on right now?!)

I really love Anne of Green Gables too, although I didn't read it until I was an adult. There are a number of books on your lists that I've also enjoyed, possibly Pride and Prejudice might be the only place where we disagree.

And I must say that I find it a little ironic to read and re-read a book about "getting things done". That made me laugh a little. I stopped laughing when it occurred to me that I should probably read it.
