Recommended Reading: May 2007

As Springtime approaches here in the Midwest, I've found myself doing a bit of spring cleaning.  Cleaning out closets, reorganizing shelves, and trying to reclaim the space on the top of my dresser.  I've rediscovered the stack of books that I've been stockpiling, and can't wait to use the longer daylight hours for a little reading.

Have you read anything good lately that you'd like to recommend?  Anything that was as good as you'd heard or better than you'd expected?  Anything you thought would be great, and was worse than you'd imagined?

Spill your beans and allow others to share in your good reading fortune.  Give us the list of books we ought to read right now or let us know what isn't worth those precious reading moments.

Please include the title, author's name, and a brief description of the book, your thoughts and comments.

I just read Riding the Bus with My Sister by Rachel something. It was good, and an easy read. It was a good contrast to the unemotional Breaking Clean, and was a very emotional struggle with maintaining a relationship with a mentally retarded sister - one who asks her sister to ride the bus with her (she rides all day from 5 until about 7 pm, so we're not talking about the crosstown here).

Anyway, I would recommend it as a nice light read. Besides, the story I got is that Pat, yes your father, Pat stole it from the Country Inn and Suites and gave it to Julie, who gave it to me. So really, this is a recommendation from Pat.

Note to all: The book was BORROWED from the library of the Country Inn and Suites and SOMEONE is SUPPOSED to return it to ANY Country Inn and Suites.

I just finished The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer, which was recommended by Marcia last month. I also thought it was very good. The style and flow of the writing and the great character descriptions made it enjoyable reading.

I NEED to have someone read a book I just finished because I have a question I need answered. The book is "The Double Bind" by Chris Bohjalian. I thought it was a great read and was even more pleased by the ending....but I looked through the discussion questions at the end and found something that I don't get. So would someone please read it and then email me when you have finished so I can ask my question???
    Thanks
