The Photo

I was the textbook bookworm as a kids.  Mom wold kick me out of the house in the summer to get fresh air and I would climb in a tree to read.  I really love reading, but like most of you, have trouble finding the time.  My kids are readers (when we find the right books) which makes me very happy, hopefully that's one good thing I can pass on that won't require therapy later.  I love the connection of reading books with friends and sharing thoughts/opinions on them

The Book Biography

Three Favorite Books (or series) from My Childhood

Laura Ingalls Wilder - I had them memorized.  I watched the TV show but always "criticized" it against whether it happened in the books
The Adventures of the Great Brain - John D. Fitzgerald.  These were very funny books about the younger dumber brother set back in the early 1900's.  They made me laugh out loud.  My kids think they are boring
Nancy Drew - Carolyn Keene.  What girl didn't read these?

Current Favorite Authors
Lorna Landvik - Come on, who from Minnesota doesn't love her!
Chris Bohjalian - (Midwives) I thought his first book was great, the others haven't been as good, but I still look forward to new ones
Jim Fergus  1000 White Women.  OK not so much the author (this is his first) but I loved the story and the style. I can't wait for more.

Can you see a theme of a love of the old west /pioneer times/turn of the century....?

Non-Fiction Books You Won't Find Me Reading
Cookbooks (Hamburger Helper works for us)
Martha Stewart (We are not that organized and rigid and "that's a good thing")
Parenting tips (We tend to go with instinct.  And save for therapy later)

Non-Fiction Books I Do Read
Gardening Books (flowers, perennials)
Biographies (No trends here)
Print Quality Standards (OK, that's work, I was struggling for the 3rd type of book)
