Burning questions: November 2007, Quotable
It's not at all unusual to hear movie quotes thrown into conversation - if you're in conversation with me anyway. Some of them come up more often than others, sometimes you just have to watch diligently for the right occasion to arise in order to add in a quote that is contextually correct. When it happens, it's like a litmus test that can quickly identify those who are most like me. Recognize the quote and laugh? Hello friend. For example (and these are paraphrased, because my goal is to achieve about 80% accuracy - I'm an overachiever with low goals):
"So what you're saying is there's a chance" - Dumb and Dumber
"Two bowls of split plea soup, eh" - Strange Brew
"Nobody puts Baby in the corner" - Dirty Dancing
"Bueller? Bueller?" - Ferris Bueller's Day Off
I could go on and on or at least until I exhausted the list of movies I watched in the 80's and 90's because according to my list, that appears to be the last time in which I actually watched any movies. Depending on how many movies you watch and how much room in your memory you've allocated to useless but humorous trivia, you may or many not recognize these. Do you do the same with books? I've been thinking about this for a few weeks now and I can't think of any books that I quote, often or really ever. So that gives us our burning questions for this month:
Are there lines or passages from books that you quote in conversation? If so, what are they?
