Two books this month that are light reads for the end of the summer:
Beaches by Iris Rainer Dart. This book was the source for the tear-jerking movie of the same name. I enjoyed the movie, and also really enjoyed the book. I will say that my mind's eye was greatly influenced by the movie, but was still able to enjoy the book on it's own.
Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner. I've seen her books everywhere and have heard good things about her entertaining books. This was the first I'd read, and I really enjoyed it. It was a good mystery with likeable characters and funny dialogue. I'd recommend it.

2 books were recommended to me in preparation for a recent trip to St. Petersburg, Russia. THE KITCHEN BOY by Alexander was historical fiction about the last tsar of Russia and the killing of his family. The other book was THE MADONNAS OF LENINGRAD by Debra Dean, another historical fiction about the Hermitage when the German Army took over Leningrad. Not good descriptions by me, but good books! Check them out!

I too (thanks to Jennie's recommendation)enjoyed Goodnight Nobody. I have a whack of books on request that I am waiting for from our public library. In particular, just in time for Back-to-School I am looking forward to "Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler. I will let you know if anything pans out!

I just read Candy Girl, by Diablo Cody and I could not put it down. Very interesting story about her experiences working her way through Minneapolis strip clubs, just cause she wanted to see what it was like...
